Medical condition Description
Angina (PDF 74.3kb) Chest pain associated with heart disease.
Arthritis (PDF 74.5kb) A disease affecting a joint or joints, usually with accompanying inflammation.
Asthma (PDF 74.5kb) A disorder of the airways, leading to recurrent episodes of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing.
Back Pain (PDF 75.1kb) Pain or discomfort in the spinal area.
Cancer (malignant tumours) (PDF 74.2Kb) An abnormal growth of cells which tend to multiply in an uncontrolled way.
Cholesterol (lipids) (PDF 77kb) Fatty substances in the blood which, if elevated, can increase the risk of developing heart disease.
Crohn's disease (PDF 74.5kb) An inflammatory disease of the intestines.
Depression (PDF 75kb) Various conditions characterised by low mood including anxiety, stress and schizophrenia.
Diabetes (PDF 74.4kb) A condition where the pancreas does not produce enough or any insulin to help glucose enter the body's cells.
Heart attack (PDF 37kb) Death of part of the heart muscle due to the loss of blood and oxygen supply following the blockage of a coronary artery.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) (PDF 37.4kb) A sustained increase in blood pressure levels.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (PDF 37.3kb) A functional bowel disorder characterised by abdominal pain and a change of bowel habit.
Multiple sclerosis (PDF 37.2kb) An inflammatory disease of the central nervous system.
Stroke (PDF 37.1kb) Permanent damage to the brain caused by loss of blood flow.
Ulcerative colitis (PDF 37.2kb) An inflammatory disease of the large bowel characterised by attacks of the large bowel.
