Equity release is an important decision, so you'll want to be sure that it's right for you. We're here to help you every step of the way – from understanding your options and making your decision, right through to receiving your money.

This is a lifetime mortgage or home reversion plan. To understand the features and risks, ask for a personalised illustration.

1. Contact us

Call us on 0800 404 6220 to make an appointment with one of our experienced advisers. Please note that we can only advise on products offered by Aviva.

2. Talk to an adviser

An adviser will come and visit you at a time and place to suit you and they will explain all the benefits, costs and risks of taking out equity release. They will ask you details about your savings, investments, pension income and welfare benefits to assess if equity release is right for you.

3. Review Personalised Illustration

You will receive a personalised illustration which will outline the amount you may be able to release and details of the plan the adviser has recommended for you.

4. Discuss

You can then discuss the recommendation with your family, or friends.

5. Decide

At this point decide if equity release is right for you.

6. Complete application

Make an appointment with the adviser and they will help you complete the application form.

7. Home valuation

We will then arrange for an independent valuation of your home, for which you will have to pay a fee, so we can tell you exactly how much money you could release.

8. Receive offer

Receive your offer, confirming the amount you can borrow.

9. Complete paperwork

Discuss the plan with your solicitor and sign the legal paperwork.

10. Receive money

You will receive your money through your solicitor.

Lifetime mortgages and the Home Reversion Plan are not available in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. The Home Reversion Plan is also not available in Northern Ireland or Scotland.
