Fixed Term Retirement Plan

What are my investment options?

The Fixed Term Retirement Plan offers two investment options: the Aviva Guaranteed Fund and the guaranteed maturity value.

You can invest in either or both of these options. To take out a Fixed Term Retirement plan you will need to consider the following;

  • You must invest a minimum of £10,000 into the overall plan, after taking tax-free cash and adviser charges are deducted.
  • A minimum of £5,000 must be used to invest in each investment option you choose.
  • If you select to take an income as part of your plan this will be deducted from the amount you give us and the remaining funds will be invested in the investment option(s) you choose.

The two investment options offer different ways to invest, but both give guarantees on the plan maturity value. When the plan matures you must use its value to buy another retirement income product. This could be another Fixed Term Retirement Plan (if you're eligible to do so), an income drawdown plan or a lifetime annuity.

The Aviva Guaranteed Fund

  • Guaranteed maturity value - At least the amount you originally invested in this option.
  • Growth - Any investment growth the plan makes will also be added when it matures.
  • Plan period - You can only invest for five years.
  • Death benefits - If you die during the term of your plan, your estate will receive the value of the fund, after any tax, on the date we're told of your death, which may be less than the amount you originally invested.
  • Fluctuating value - The value of your investment may vary from day to day, you can track the performance of your investment at www.aviva.co.uk/funds/pension-funds.html.

The guaranteed maturity value

  • Guaranteed maturity value - We’ll tell you at the start of the plan what your plan will be worth at maturity. This amount doesn’t depend on plan performance.
  • Plan period - You can invest for a term between three and 25 years.
  • Death benefits - If you die during the term of your plan your estate will get back the amount you originally invested.

Investing in both options

  • Plan period - You can only invest for five years.
  • Rules - Rules for each investment will apply as seen above.
