Procedure: Undergoing Surgery

All types of surgery follow set procedures before, during, and after the operation. Before anaesthesia and surgery, you are given a preoperative assessment. Afterwards, your condition is assessed by your doctor before you are allowed to go home. Major surgery is always carried out in hospital, but minor operations may be performed in the doctor’s surgery or in an outpatient clinic.

A surgical procedure

Before surgery, a physical assessment will check your fitness for anaesthesia and surgery. Your recovery time depends on your general state of health and the type of surgery you have.
