Process: Puberty for Girls

Puberty is the period during which visible sexual characteristics develop and sexual organs mature. In girls, puberty usually starts between the ages of 10 and 14 and lasts for about 3–4 years. Puberty can occur up to 2 years earlier in black people, and girls tend to enter puberty about 1–2 years before boys.

Physical development

During puberty, the breasts start to develop, pubic hair grows, and there is a rapid increase in height. The hips also widen, hair grows in the armpits, and menstruation begins.
