Rapid breathing in a panic attack reduces carbon dioxide levels in the blood and may cause tingling in the fingers. You can control these symptoms by breathing through the mouth into a paper bag. By doing this, you rebreathe air with more carbon dioxide and restore the body’s levels to normal.
