Self-help: Treating Head Lice

Infestations of head lice can be treated with an over-the-counter lotion or shampoo, and the lice can then be removed with a nit comb. Hair conditioner may make it easier for you to comb out the dead lice and eggs, especially if your child’s hair is long, thick, or curly. All combs and towels should be washed in very hot water after use to prevent reinfestation.
