Treatment: Home Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen therapy can be used at home to relieve symptoms of many lung disorders that lead to low blood oxygen levels. You can use either oxygen cylinders or an oxygen concentrator. In people with chronic respiratory failure, the treatment improves symptoms and can delay the development of complications and prolong life if used for at least 15 hours a day. Smaller, portable oxygen cylinders can be used when outside, enabling you to move around freely while receiving extra oxygen.

Receiving oxygen

The oxygen concentrator separates out oxygen from the atmosphere and then delivers oxygen-rich air through a tube.
