Lynda Mason - claim for breast cancer

Lynda Mason, born December 1953

Lynda is a college manager who originally insured her whole family through Aviva, she enjoys a very active lifestyle that includes hobbies such as orienteering, camping, fell running and biking.

When Lynda was diagnosed with breast cancer after her GP referred her to a specialist, it came as a complete shock. She had always been fit and healthy and had only previously used her Private Health Insurance policy for minor treatments.

Following the initial diagnosis Lynda contacted Aviva and began her treatment, she speaks highly of the service she received and believes that excellent customer service is top of Aviva’s agenda.

At a time when support is needed most Lynda says she received peace of mind through competent and knowledgeable claims advisors who managed her case effectively and professionally, never leaving questions unanswered.

As Lynda is an extremely active person she felt that the fast access to medical services, choice of specialist and flexibility of treatment dates all assisted in ensuring she was back in action climbing mountains as quickly as possible!

Commenting on her treatment Lynda says:

"The absolute best thing about the service I received from Aviva was that it left me free to concentrate on myself, if I felt like going for a walk, I could, they handled everything for me. I would thoroughly recommend Aviva, I couldn’t think of anyone better, their customer service and care is second to none!"

"I am particularly pleased with the extended cancer monitoring benefit (I believe up to 10 years now), which I am also benefiting from. I absolutely make sure that I have an annual ‘check up’ with my consultant. Obviously, one of the main worries associated with cancer is the ‘will it come back’ question. Knowing someone is keeping an eye over me is very comforting and really does aid life returning to normal!"

"I also like the opportunities offered to keep premiums lower through the recognition of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. I will be filling in our lifestyle questionnaire in February ready for the annual renewal process."

Zoe Tootell - claim for intestinal cancer

Zoe Tootell, born January 1969

In 2011, amidst the chaos of planning a wedding, Zoe Tootell visited her GP after complaining of stomach pain. Blood tests and scans proved inconclusive so Zoe decided to use her private medical scheme to have further investigations.

After undergoing an endoscopy, Zoe received the devastating news that she had intestinal cancer. Although it was a very difficult time, she praises Aviva for their support and efficiency. Zoe’s treatment was paid for immediately and each contact with the team helped keep her mind at ease.

"The claims experience was easy and quick and all the staff I spoke to were so caring, it was like talking to a friend. The speed and efficiency of service was excellent and I will now be recommending you as a company. Not only did it mean that I could get married as originally planned, but more importantly, Aviva’s assistance saved my life."

The prompt diagnosis was of even greater importance as Mrs Zoe Tootell married in September 2011. Thankfully her treatment has gone well and she continues her routine maintenance on the NHS, whilst enjoying newly married life.
