Voluntary and Affinity Schemes

Healthcare schemes with no costs to your clients business

Our Voluntary and Affinity Schemes are alternatives for large clients that would like to offer Healthcare benefits to their employees or members at low or zero cost to their organisation.

Voluntary Schemes are usually of interest to companies that can’t afford to pay for a traditional PMI scheme but still want to be able to offer their employees healthcare benefits. Affinity Schemes are more suited to large charities or member-based organisations that may need to keep scheme costs to an absolute minimum. Providing there are 1,000 potential members who could purchase the policies, we’re happy to offer our Healthier Solutions and My Health Cash Plan products with minimum or no cost at all to their business.

Through you, we can engage those prospective clients and highlight the benefits of our products to their employees or members. We’re currently offering up to 72% no claim discount (NCD) on a new PMI policy (subject to underwriting) with members on these schemes starting their policy 2 levels higher than normal on our NCD scale. We can also offer up to 2 months free cover on a cash plan policy.

Voluntary Schemes

A Voluntary Scheme offers our products to employees as individuals without needing the employer to get involved in setting up a scheme.

Voluntary Schemes can be offered to companies with over 1,000 employees. We’ll do most of the work, which means that your clients and their employees can derive all the benefits of our Private Medical Insurance (PMI) or My Health Cash Plan (MHCP) products at little or no cost to your client. Employees will then have access to an extensive choice of benefits, and access to substantial discounts and offers on private medical insurance.

Why would a company be interested?

There could be no cost involved for the company in offering a flexible, modular healthcare product to their employees. It’s an ideal opportunity to demonstrate staff loyalty – our cash plan, for example, allows them to provide some level of healthcare to all of their employees.

Voluntary Schemes can enhance their recruitment and retention levels, with employees able to access medical care promptly and take advantage of the added value benefits associated with Healthier Solutions, our PMI policy.

Why would their employees be interested?

We know that PMI is a desirable employee benefit. By setting up a Voluntary Scheme, your clients can further enhance their profile in the eyes of potential employees. Accessing PMI through a Voluntary Scheme also gives individuals access to an enhanced no claim discount of up to 72% (subject to underwriting), with members on these schemes starting their policy 2 levels higher than normal on our NCD scale. With My Health Cash Plan, we currently offer up to two months' free cover. In addition to saving money, employees could also see improved health and wellbeing by taking advantage of the added value benefits associated with these products.

We’ll give you marketing support and dedicated account management. We’ll also demonstrate how easy it is to roll-out a wide range of marketing materials (including emails, desk drops and intranet campaigns), which encourage take-up of our added value benefits at little or no cost to your client’s business.

Affinity Schemes

Affinity Schemes appeal to large membership-based organisations such as clubs, charities or industry bodies.

Like Voluntary Schemes, we’d usually offer an Affinity Scheme to organisations with over 1,000 potential members. Because we do most of the work, the organisation can derive all the benefits of an enhanced profile at little or no cost to themselves. Their members then have access to an extensive choice of benefits, exclusive discounts and offers on private healthcare.

Why would an organisation be interested?

Large organisations can benefit from relationships with like-minded companies. Affiliated offers have become commonplace in connection with supermarket loyalty cards, or among breakdown cover partners. It’s a good opportunity to demonstrate that an organisation understands its members’ needs by offering products of interest, and it could also help enhance the perception of their own work.

An example

‘Mark’ is involved with a large charitable trust that looks after woodlands across the country. He’s been helping them recruit new members for a number of years, and the charitable trust now has over 4,000 members…

In a meeting with his financial adviser, Richard, Mark mentions the work he’s been doing – and that the charitable trust is looking for ways to attract and retain members. Richard asks, “Do you reward members with any benefits when they join?”

Working together

Mark explains that, in addition to supporting the work of the charitable trust, the membership fee entitles members to discounts with a network of farm shops. Richard suggests that members may also be interested in accessing healthcare products, and Mark sets up a meeting between Richard, one of our Partnerships Team, and a number of trustees who work on behalf of the organisation.

Working together, we offer Healthier Solutions to the charitable trust’s members. We promote it in the quarterly magazine, and include information about members being able to potentially start their Healthier Solutions policy 2 steps up on our No Claim Discount (NCD) scale, in the organisation’s marketing material.

Benefits for everyone

Responses to the marketing campaign are good. Richard is happy to handle the additional business where it’s appropriate, which in many cases means simply issuing an application form. He also works with his network to accommodate a number of meetings that lead to additional business in other areas.

Mark is delighted that the campaign attracted more members, and the charitable trust’s trustees feel confident that an affiliation with Aviva will lead to a higher profile for the organisation’s work.
