The Gulf is an area that’s highly regulated when it comes to healthcare. Our Gulf Solutions product has been specifically created for you if you’re living or working in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi.
Why do you need a specific Gulf policy?
It’s all to do with local legislation: in some areas for example, to satisfy visa requirements, you may need to show evidence of having health insurance that’s been provided by a locally licensed insurer.
We’ve worked in partnership with Emirates Insurance Company and Oman Qatar Insurance Company to create a new policy, entirely appropriate to the territory. And you can be reassured by the fact you’ll still benefit from a wide range of features if travelling outside the region. Full details are in our Gulf Solutions brochure (PDF 2.7MB).

FAQs about Gulf Solutions
Why do premiums need to be paid in Dirhams for cover in the UAE?
Due to current legislation in the United Arab Emirates, premiums must be paid directly to Emirates Insurance Company (our local partner) in Dirhams. For all other countries, we encourage you to pay your premiums in US Dollars as this can help to beat currency fluctuations.
What documentation will you receive?
We’ll send out a welcome pack with full policy details and NAS will send you their Gulf Solutions membership card(s). Each membership card will include the member’s photograph, which helps ensure there are no identification problems when seeking treatment in Oman and the UAE. We recommend that you keep these cards with you at all times.
In the welcome pack, we’ll include details about our Gulf Solutions website where you can find details about your policy, different benefit terms, and information to help you make a claim if you need to.
Why do you need photos?
Along with our standard Gulf Solutions literature, you will be issued with a Gulf Solutions membership card. This is mandatory, due to local legislation in some Gulf regions – in the main, it’s for reasons of security and ease if you need treatment.
What is the claims process?
We always advise that you check your current member guide to find out what to do as it depends entirely on where the claim is made – but it’s quite straightforward:
- You’ll need to make claims through NAS Administration Services. You will find the right phone number for the country you’re in on your Gulf Solutions membership card, or, if needed, you can call NAS’s main switchboard direct on +9712 6940700. Most claims will be settled directly with the medical facility, even dental and optical.
You will need to show your Gulf Solutions membership card to get treatment – that’s why we recommend carrying it at all times. NAS will then liaise with the medical provider, and in most cases will organise direct settlement of any invoices. We’ll send details of how to claim with your documentation.
