Norwich Union staff raise over £220,000 for Alzheimer's Society

Norwich Union staff have helped to raise over £220,000,including £ for £ matching from the company, for their 2002 staffcharities, Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland.

Staff across the group have thrown themselves into fundraising,taking part in the ‘Life’s a Beach’ fun day,sponsored events such as white-water rafting, marathons, cyclerides, swims and walks. There have been car washes, quizzes,raffles and treasure hunts, the list is endless.

All the hard work and effort from Norwich Union staff will makea real difference to both charities in their support for people whoare affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

Harry Cayton, Chief Executive from the Alzheimer's Society,said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Norwich Union staffhave raised such an amazing total for the Alzheimer’s Societyas their Staff Charity of the Year 2002.

“The funds raised will help us reach out and support moreof the millions of people in the UK whose lives are affected byAlzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s isincurable but the quality of living for both the carer and theperson with dementia can be improved by the practical and emotionalsupport we provide.

“Raising money is hard for us - brain disease and even oldage are not easy fundraising topics and we have been warmed by thestrength of support, enthusiasm and dedication of Norwich Unionstaff.”

Norwich Union staff have voted to support the Multiple SclerosisSociety as their staff charity for 2003.
