Norwich Union Insurance announces changes to senior management structure

Norwich Union has made changes to the senior management team ofits general insurance business following a restructure of the Avivaexecutive team, which was announced today.

Patrick Snowball will become Aviva group executive director,general insurance. In this role he will continue as chiefexecutive, Norwich Union Insurance and, in addition, the majorgeneral insurance businesses in Canada, Ireland and Asia willreport to him.

As a result of the changes to the Aviva group board, there willbe some reorganisation of the roles and responsibilities of theNorwich Union Insurance senior management team.

Corporate Partnerships, Retail, Marketing and Underwritingfunctions will be combined to become Sales and Marketing, reportingto Bridget McIntyre, who becomes Norwich Union Insurance sales andmarketing director.

Claims and Operations functions will be brought together tobecome Customer Services, reporting to Simon Machell, who willbecome Norwich Union Insurance customer services director.

All the new roles will take effect from 1 July 2003. Ken Wallace(intermediary business director), Mark Hodges (finance director),John Ainley (HR director) and Alex Robinson (information technologydirector) will remain in their current roles. Cathryn Riley,currently retail director, will become managing director of NorwichUnion Healthcare.

The new structure will further enhance Aviva’sinternational presence as well as strengthening the focus ondelivering excellent customer service to intermediaries, directcustomers and corporate partners.

Commenting on the new structure, Patrick Snowball, groupexecutive director, general insurance, said: “This moresimplified structure has a strong focus on customer service. Thechanges will also create opportunities for us to share learning andto focus on operational excellence across our general insurancebusinesses worldwide.

“We are committed to delivering excellent service to ourintermediaries and we expect this to further improve as thebenefits of a simpler organisation become apparent.”

As a result of this reorganisation, there will be changes tosome senior management roles within Norwich Union Insurance. Thesechanges will begin over the next few weeks and are due to becompleted by the end of June.
