New head of external relations for Norwich Union Life

Ian Beggs has been appointed head of external relations forNorwich Union’s life business, based in York.

Ian Beggs has been appointed head of external relations forNorwich Union’s life business, based in York.

He will be responsible for leading the organisation’sextensive programme of public affairs, including responses toGovernment consultations.

Currently media relations manager within Norwich Union Life, Ianjoined Norwich Union from HBOS in February 2002, where he held theposition of senior press officer. Since then, he has worked closelywith all parts of Norwich Union Life on a range of communicationsissues, including those relating to major regulatory change.

Ian will take up his new role from Monday 13 October, replacingRob Davies who leaves Norwich Union at the end of October. Areplacement for the media relations team is currently beingrecruited.

The external relations team has a pivotal role to play inhelping the organisation inform opinion and influencedecision-making for the better. I’m looking forward toengaging the many important opinion formers outside ourorganisation to explain the views and perspective of the UK’slargest insurer.”
