Aviva launches specialist high value protection team

Article date: 25 February 2014

  • Service promise for high value cases
  • Competitive pricing: extra 10% lautro for cases submitted online
  • Financial underwriting made quicker and easier

Aviva has launched a new specialist protection team to offer a tailored service for protection cases with high levels of cover and large premiums.

The team will handle protection cases with life cover of more than £1 million, life and critical illness cover of more than £500,000 and annual premiums of £6,000 or more.

Advisers will benefit from a service promise to ensure their cases are dealt with quickly and smoothly. The team will:

  • contact advisers within 24 hours of a case being submitted.
  • keep them updated by their preferred method of contact throughout the process.
  • use existing medicals or executive screenings where possible.
  • provide the option of speaking to a high value underwriter instead of filling in a financial questionnaire.

Competitive pricing

Aviva will also offer an extra 10% lautro for cases submitted online, in addition to its price-beating service which aims to match or beat competitor quotes for all high value cases.

Flexible approach to medical evidence

Existing medical evidence will be used where possible to ensure the process is swift and convenient for the client. When an appointment is required, Aviva now offers a mobile doctor service, as well as nurse screenings at a venue of the client’s choice.

Financial underwriting made easier

To minimise form-filling, a financial questionnaire is not required for cases up to £3 million of life cover or £1 million of life and critical illness cover. Instead a conversation with an underwriter can be sufficient in these circumstances for both personal cover and business protection.

For business protection for established businesses, financial advisers will not be asked routinely to provide accounts for sums assured up to £6 million of life cover and £2 million of life and critical illness cover.

The team will also regularly review non-medical and financial underwriting limits to ensure they remain competitive.

Robert Morrison, chief underwriter for Aviva says: “We know that high value clients have very specific requirements so our new team has been designed with this in mind, to create solutions tailored to their individual needs.

“The team is focused around providing a streamlined service to ensure cover is in place as quickly as possible, while premiums are kept competitive at all times. We understand the time pressures that many advisers face, so we’ve listened to them and we’ve introduced a team which makes it even easier to do business with Aviva.”
