Rob Townend, Claims Director at Aviva, said, “We can thank claims management companies for the annoying cold calls and texts most of us receive all-too-often. Consumers are fed up with this harassment: Aviva found that 95% of motorists would like CMCs to face tougher regulation.
“The Chancellor’s pledge to scrutinise the regulation of claims management companies and, in particular, the proposal to cap fees they can charge, is long overdue. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how many systems are put in place – until the financial incentives at the heart of the injury claims process are removed, consumers and their insurers will be targets for unscrupulous individuals and marketing firms who seek to profit from accident claims.”
