Kidderminster resident in running for top RAC award

Kidderminster RAC lead patrol Stewart Barnett has reached thefinal round of a closely fought national competition to find thisyear’s RAC Ambassador of the Year.

The Ambassador of the Year title is awarded to the RAC patrol thathas demonstrated not just outstanding technical and mechanicalexpertise, but also the highest levels of customer awareness andservice – often in fraught and even dangerous situations atthe roadside.

Following every breakdown customers are given the opportunity torate the quality of service provided by the patrol allowingmotoring organisation RAC to assess each patrol’s performanceboth accurately and objectively.

Stewart, 42, from Kidderminster, looks after members in theWorcestershire and the Severn Valley area. He has been an RACpatrol for an outstanding 17 years and loves the freedom the jobbrings. As well as looking after members, as a lead patrol Stewartis also responsible for a ten-strong team of patrols in thearea.

Lance Armstrong is the famous person Stewart would most like torescue and says a Range Rover Vogue is the car he’d most liketo own.

In his spare time Stewart is a competitive sportsman. He is captainof his local boat club and he has taken part in the Henley RoyalRegatta. He has also raised money for charity by running the LondonMarathon and taking part in sponsored boat rows for LeukemiaResearch.

Stewart will be attending a glittering awards ceremony along withthe other top performing patrols* and customer service staff onSaturday 25 February where the Ambassador of the Year will beannounced. This is the third time that Stewart has been in therunning for this prestigious award.
