RAC staff in Bradley Stoke were boosted by a visit from Team RACdrivers Rob Collard and Colin Turkington ahead of the Dunlop MSABritish Touring Car Championship at Thruxton on Sunday 4June.
RAC sponsor Team RAC, which is run by racing professionals WSR(West Surrey Racing) and are currently fourth in the championshipstandings.
Rob, Colin and Grid Girl Liz Bunscombe spent the morning with RACstaff for a question and answer session, swapped stories and gavehints and motivation tips.
After the question and answer session staff were able to get upclose to the 2.0 litre MG ZS race car driven by Collard that canreach top speeds of over 150 mph and 0-60 mph in an impressive 4.5seconds.
The visit was part of RAC's reward programme and there are evenmore benefits for RAC staff during the season, as they will havethe chance to win race day tickets, full Team RAC racing kit andeven enjoy a special Team RAC track day.
Jo Hale, head of RAC Rescue contact centre, said: “The visitfrom Team RAC was a fantastic experience for the staff at BradleyStoke. Rob and Colin are a real inspiration and it was greatto have them join us for the day to share their experiences andmotivation tips.”
Colin Turkington, who won Team RAC's first race of the season atThruxton on Sunday, added: “It was a pleasure to meet the RACstaff. I feel very privileged to be racing with Team RAC this year.The MG was already a proven car, but with help from RAC I'm surethat the team will have a successful season.”
RAC staff across the country will also benefit from the sponsorshipwhich represents a return to RAC's roots in motorsport, after theorganisation was involved in BTCC when it was established in 1958.Team RAC is the latest in a series of activities that demonstrateRAC's expertise in motoring, symbolised by its current advertisingcampaign - "the people behind the people behind the wheel".
Under the sponsorship, Team RAC have entered the ten race eventswith two RAC branded WSR-designed and built MG ZS cars driven bytouring car stars Colin Turkington and Rob Collard. Some staff willeven be fortunate enough to enjoy passenger rides with them in the2.0 litre MG ZS race cars, that put out an impressive 275bhp!
