The Motor Sports Association (MSA) and the Motorsport IndustryAssociation (MIA) created the initiative to raise national andlocal media awareness of UK motorsport and industry. It is hopedthat the campaign will attract new audiences and participants tothe sport.

On supporting the initiative Team RAC principal, Dick Bennettssaid: "Motorsport is a major player in British industry and weourselves compete not just on a domestic level but on a worldwidestage, with A1GP. In 1972 I left New Zealand to further mymotorsport career and I consider the UK to be the World centre ofexcellence. Our sponsor RAC has demonstrated its commitment tomotorsport by returning to BTCC after the organisation wasoriginally involved in the championship when it was established in1958. It’s important to attract new investors, personnel andsupporters to the sport to maintain a healthy industry for futureyears to come."

Chris Aylett, MIA chief executive added: "It’s great newsthat Team RAC are supporting National Motorsport Week in the BTCC.Everyone can enjoy Motorsport but at times it is seen as a littletoo exclusive. This activity is opening our arms to everyone whomay not have yet enjoyed motorsport to see how fun and accessibleit can be. The concept is a simple one – take a mate tomotorsport."
