Morley appoints Adrian Jarvis as interim CIO - Katherine Garrett-Cox to leave Morley

Morley Fund Management, one of the UK’s largest activefund managers, announced today that chief investment officer(CIO) Katherine Garrett-Cox has resigned and will be leavingthe company at the end of March 2007. Morley’s head ofstrategy, Adrian Jarvis, will take on the role of interim CIO fromthat date. Katherine will be taking up a new role as chiefinvestment officer and group executive director with Alliance Trustplc based in Dundee, Scotland.

Chris Phillips, whose appointment as Morley’s new CEO wasrecently announced, is aware of Katherine’s decision andsupportive of Adrian taking on the interim role.

As head of strategy, Adrian is responsible for investment strategy,quantitative research and quant funds within Morley. Over the pastsix years he has built a team with a successful track record ofadding value through both strategic and tactical asset allocation.With his team, Adrian has taken the strength of Morley’sinternal asset allocation modelling and applied these skills toproduce demonstrable benefits for a broader client base.

Philip Scott, group executive director of Aviva and chairman ofMorley Fund Management, said: “Katherine leaves at the end ofMarch with our best wishes and thanks for her contribution over thepast three years. In her time at Morley she has brought her strongpeople management skills to the fore and introduced a more focusedand commercial approach within the investment team. She has alsochampioned Morley’s investment talent, evidenced by thepromotion of Niall Paul from head of emerging market equities tohead of equities and the fact that we can look to Adrian Jarvis tofulfil the interim CIO role.”

An executive search firm is being appointed to consider bothinternal and external candidates to replace Katherine.

Katherine Garrett-Cox said: “It has been a difficult decisionto leave Morley. I have enjoyed building a first class investmentteam and I am especially proud of how we have come together andprogressed on many fronts. So I will depart confident that I willleave behind a strong investment capability and great group ofpeople to take the business forward.”

Katherine joined Morley in March 2004 from Aberdeen AssetManagement where she had been CIO.
