Milton Keynes lead patrol, Gary Stanton, was named RAC Patrol Ambassador of the Year this week at the RAC Ambassador Awards 2007.
The Ambassador of the Year title is awarded to the RAC patrol that has demonstrated not just outstanding technical and mechanical expertise, but also the highest levels of customer awareness and service often in fraught and even dangerous situations at the roadside.
Following every breakdown customers are given the opportunity to rate the quality of service provided by the patrol allowing motoring organisation RAC to assess each patrol's performance both accurately and objectively.
Gary, 39, looks after RAC members in the Milton Keynes area. He has been an RAC patrol for an outstanding 13 years and loves the freedom the job brings. This is the ninth year Gary has attended the awards, but this is the first time he has taken the top accolade, having been a close runner up for the last two years.
In his spare time Gary likes to spend time with his wife Tracy and sons
Matthew, 7, and Adam, 3. He is an avid MK Dons fan and enjoys playing golf, snooker and 10 pin bowling when not patrolling local roads rescuing broken-down vehicles.
Following the awards, Gary said "I am over the moon to be named as the Ambassador of the year; this is testament to the hard work of my colleagues in the office and the patrols on the roads in Milton Keynes. We have superb team spirit and I am delighted to be part of the business".
Gary attended a glittering awards ceremony at a top class hotel, along with the other top performing patrols* and customer service colleagues on Saturday 24 March when the Ambassador of the Year was announced.
Commenting on Gary's achievement, Debbie Hewitt, managing director, RAC said: "RAC patrols take great pride in the service they provide to our customers at the roadside a service our members tell us is second to none. Gary has consistently delivered across all aspects of his role, particularly excellent customer service and he shows tremendous commitment and enthusiasm for what he does".

Notes to editors:
With around seven million members, RAC is one of the UK's most progressive motoring organizations, providing services for both private and business motorists. Whether it's roadside assistance, windscreen repair and replacement, learning to drive, vehicle inspections and checks, legal and financial services or up-to-the-minute traffic and travel information - RAC is able to meet motorists' needs. RAC incorporates BSM, RAC Auto Windscreens, RAC Direct Insurance and HPI.
Aviva bought RAC in May 2005. The acquisition brings together RAC's powerful brand and customer base with the expertise and leading position in motor insurance of Norwich Union Insurance (part of Aviva). Norwich Union is the UK's largest insurer, insuring one in seven motor vehicles and with a market share of around 15%.
