Norwich Union Risk Services (NURS) has produced the cream of the crop in the 2006 NEBOSH examinations by scooping three prestigious awards.
The success coincides with an announcement from IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) as it launches its 'Get the Best' campaign to ensure that only people who are 'fully competent' in health and safety can give advice.
NURS delegate Julie Hurst, first line manager - processing department, UK operations for Astra Zeneca, achieved two awards - the best performance award for the Diploma Unit B and the prestigious award for overall best performance in the NEBOSH National Diploma. Jan Robinson, also an NURS delegate and QHSE Controller, Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings, achieved a best performance award for the Diploma Part 1.
John Phillips, training and consultancy manager at NURS, said: "To achieve a hat trick of NEBOSH awards is a real achievement for NURS and clearly demonstrates our training expertise.
"Our training staff are chartered safety and health professionals with a number of them being recognised as fellows of IOSH. They also have chemical and engineering backgrounds and continue to undertake consultancy and technical projects for industrial and commercial clients. This keeps them fully up to date with developments in this field.
"All our candidates receive first hand opportunities to learn from professionals within the trade, a key factor which contributes to our consistent success rate."
The NEBOSH diploma course consists of three taught units which run over seven weeks. The first unit, Unit A, deals with Managing Health and Safety. Unit B: Hazardous Agents and C: Workplace and Work Equipment.
Each unit is assessed separately by means of a three hour examination and the course objectives are supported by a fourth unit in the form of a written assignment.
