Norwich Union Healthcare is set to introduce enhanced policy benefits from 1 October 2007 on out-patient treatment for acute psychiatric conditions. The change will see improvements to the specialist referral process and the introduction of criteria for therapist recognition.
Affecting all Norwich Union Healthcare policies with out-patient psychiatric benefit, the streamlined referral process ensures a speedier and more efficient claims process for customers. From October, new and renewing policyholders can receive benefit for an acute psychiatric condition by referral from their GP directly to a recognised therapist. As Specialist intervention is not always needed in less serious cases, customers no longer need to see a specialist first; this speeds up the time from seeing their GP to receiving the treatment they need.
As well as ensuring the referral process is more efficient and cost effective, the changes to Norwich Union Healthcare's policies sees the introduction of criteria for therapist recognition which gives customers added confidence that their treatment will be administered by appropriately qualified therapists.
For enquiries about the changes to Norwich Union Healthcare policies, customers are advised to call the Healthcare Bureau on 0845 3000 649.
