Happy anniversary to RAC and Volvo

Article date: 11 December 2007

RAC and Volvo are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their partnership.

Abu Shafi, director of corporate partnerships at RAC, says: "We have a very strong ongoing relationship with Volvo, which started out 20 years ago as a normal supplier-customer relationship, and has developed into a truly strategic alliance.

"The customer is central to our proposition and roadside assistance is a fundamental part of the assurance we offer Volvo customers. We work very closely with manufacturers, in particular our technical teams, who work together to develop the most effective ways to prevent breakdowns and to enable us to offer the best service we can.

"We are very proud that Volvo has chosen RAC as a partner, and that they have been so loyal to our brand over the years."

Nick Connor, sales director at Volvo comments: "The key to such a unique partnership is the length of the relationship and the depth of knowledge.  Over the 20 years, RAC has built up a very strong technical understanding of our product.

"As a result, the number of vehicles that can be repaired at roadside has increased to reach a very high percentage, which means our customers receive a very efficient service.

"We work together with RAC to reduce the possibility of a breakdown and to make sure that if it does happen, drivers are back on the road as quickly as possible, with minimum interruption to their working day."

About RAC
With around seven million members, RAC is one of the UK's most progressive motoring organizations, providing services for both private and business motorists. Whether it's roadside assistance, windscreen repair and replacement, learning to drive, vehicle inspections and checks, legal and financial services or up-to-the-minute traffic and travel information - RAC is able to meet motorists' needs. RAC incorporates BSM, RAC Auto Windscreens, RAC Direct Insurance and HPI.

Aviva bought RAC in May 2005. The acquisition brings together RAC's powerful brand and customer base with the expertise and leading position in motor insurance of Norwich Union Insurance (part of Aviva). Norwich Union is the UK's largest insurer, insuring one in seven motor vehicles and with a market share of around 15%.
