Aviva Investors London regroups all London-based active portfolio management teams while capabilities that require scale and a global focus now belong to the Global Investment Solutions department.
Aviva Investors chief executive, Alain Dromer said: "Paul brings many years of top level experience to a pivotal role within Aviva Investors. During his time with ABN Amro, Paul was responsible for reorganising a significant fixed income business on a global scale and that experience will make him a tremendous asset as we move ahead with our own plans to transform our investment model.
"In Fixed Income, Paul will help to develop our existing business within several core asset classes, as well as building new specialist capabilities in other areas. His arrival will bring a wealth of new experience and considerable product knowledge and client skills to an established, award-winning investment team and help to establish Aviva Investors as a thought leader in the world of fixed income."
Paul Abberley said: "I am delighted to be joining such a strong, established team during such an exciting period for the business. It has both breadth of expertise and an exciting range of products and with the backing of the future Aviva Investors distribution network I believe that together we can further our reputation as a leading player in this market."
Paul will start with Aviva Investors in the first week of September, ahead of the completion of the Aviva Investors integration at the end of the September. He brings to the business decades of experience in financial markets, including eight years with ABN Amro Asset Management where he worked in a series of fixed income roles and as CEO for London.
