  • Jonathan Blackmore moves from Experian to drive forward success of HPI brand

HPI has appointed Jonathan Blackmore as marketing manager, to build on the brand's strong position in the trade and consumer markets. With a wealth of marketing expertise in the motor industry, Jonathan will play a key role in the success and development of HPI's comprehensive suite of products and services.

Jonathan joins HPI from Experian, where he was consumer marketing manager, responsible for the AA Car Data Check. He launched the AutoCheck consumer product, as well as AA's Vehicle Inspection product with Car Checkers. Prior to that, Jonathan was a marketing consultant with Provident Insurance, launching its motor insurance brand Yes Insurance. His successful career also includes key marketing positions at Thomas Cook, Alliance & Leicester and Nationwide Building Society.

"My experience puts me in a strong position to further secure HPI's market leading position," comments Jonathan Blackmore. "As the first choice for dealers and consumers, our goal is to focus not only on communicating the importance of conducting a provenance and mileage check, but the range of services we have on offer to aid used car buyers and sellers in making the right decision with confidence.

"For the trade sector in particular, HPI will continue to develop and innovate. However, I firmly believe that there is no substitute for good old fashioned service, combined with robust data and simple-to-use systems, which is the basis of HPI's success. HPI's knowledge and understanding of the automotive sector is superb, from top to bottom, making this a very exciting new position for me, working with a highly focused and committed team."

Daniel Burgess, director of HPI, comments: "Jonathan's marketing expertise, combined with his vision and understanding of the HPI brand, makes him the ideal person to build on our strong market position. This appointment is part of HPI's ongoing development strategy, as we celebrate 70 years of success and look to future growth and expansion."

About HPI
Originally established in 1938, HPI Limited is a primary source of vehicle information for the UK motor industry and motoring consumer, which since August 2004 has been owned by Norwich Union. HPI encompasses both the HPI database of all UK road registered vehicle descriptions and histories, and the National Mileage Register which holds in excess of 125 million mileage readings.

Together, HPI and NMR represent the UK's largest vehicle information source, combining and interpreting data from government agencies, industry bodies, private organisations, the police and the general public. Registering with HPI helps companies to protect their financial interests in motor vehicles and a wide range of other mobile assets. HPI Checks give purchasers instant confirmation of whether vehicles are correctly described, known to be subject to outstanding finance or serious accident damage, or recorded as stolen or "clocked".
