Aviva increases its support for Change4Life

Article date: 6 April 2010

Aviva, the first insurer to sign up to Change4Life, the Department of Health’s high profile movement, has strengthened its endorsement with a further affiliation through its healthcare division.

The new association means that Aviva will be supporting Change4Life through its MyHealthCounts service which helps people take simple steps to lead a healthy lifestyle, echoing the Change4Life initiative.

Aviva’s original partnership with Change4Life, which began in July 2009, was rooted in Aviva’s commitment to promoting active lifestyles through their position as the number one sponsor of UK Athletics. Since July, Aviva has promoted Change4Life through its UK Athletics grassroots programmes, which has included information sent to all schools in the UK and at the indoor season athletics events.

Aviva will now be supporting the new Change4Life "swap it, don’t stop it" adult messages, which launched in February, promoting eating and physical activity behaviour changes. This fits Aviva’s ambitions to not only provide products to support customer’s health, but to positively change people’s behaviours and attitudes to health.

Aviva will further support Change4Life through its customer communications and MyHealthCounts. Designed by medical experts, MyHealthCounts contains a wealth of invaluable information including a health assessment tool and an online coach offering personalised advice on the simple steps individuals can take to improve their health, echoing the Change4Life initiative.

Heather Smith, head of sponsorship and corporate responsibility, at Aviva, said: “The health of the nation is a crucial issue to address. As the UK’s largest insurer we are more than aware of the impact of lifestyle choices and lack of awareness on people’s long-term health. This partnership is the latest step in our investment in helping to improve the nation’s health and wellbeing. We are proud to be an official partner in Change4Life, such an important Department of Health initiative.”
