Aviva Tour of Britain 2015 - it’s over, but the highlights are here

After a nail-biting final stage, the Aviva Tour of Britain came to a close on Sunday 13 September. But only one rider could take the treasured yellow jersey home – even though 120 pro-cyclists set out from Beaumaris together on 6 September.

Edvald Boasson Hagen, of team MTN Qhubeka, claimed the iconic yellow jersey, becoming the first rider to win the Aviva Tour of Britain twice, while homegrown Owain Doull of Team WIGGINS took bronze.

As these video highlights from the Tour of Britain final stage in the streets of London show, it was an event we’ll be talking about for a long time to come: it was the 76th British tour in total, and you can be sure the teams are already in training for next year’s Tour of Britain.

Highlights behind the scenes
As you might imagine, there’s more to a cycling Tour than choosing a route and setting out in hope of fine weather. It takes a great team of people to support each cyclist through every stage, and behind the scenes, there is another great team making sure things run smoothly.

We put our full support behind the organisers, other Tour partners, the riders, and spectators, the media and just about everyone who loves cycling and wants to get involved at an event like this. That means our job ranges from helping to raise awareness about each stage, to supporting the Tour as lead sponsors, and getting our volunteer Tour Makers to help hand out those treasured yellow Aviva Tour of Britain caps at each and every start and finish line. In London alone, 2,500 hats were given out to spectators in just 20 minutes!

Want to inspire your children to get on their bike?
Around 2 million people in Britain get out on their bikes at least once a week, and there are more than 80,000 members of cycling clubs around the country, according to British Cycling.

If you’d like your children to get into competitive racing, British Cycling run a number of events for under-16s throughout the United Kingdom each year.
