Brian Wallace - Managing Director and Head of Aviva Risk Management Solutions

Brian Wallace

Brian's career started with Aviva (formerly Norwich Union) in Glasgow in 1977 and he has worked in various commercial underwriting, claims, development, operational management and project roles within the UK since that date.

Many of his roles have involved working closely with both regional and national brokers as well as large commercial clients.

Brian was appointed Managing Director and Head of Aviva Risk Management Solutions in December 2002. He has overall responsibility for the strategy of Aviva Risk Management Solutions including the delivery of risk management services for Aviva, its brokers and their customers. His team also deliver training and consultancy services to a range of businesses in the UK from SMEs to Blue Chip Organisations, focussing on Health, Safety and Environmental Management.

Colin McGorie - Financial Controller

Colin McGorie Prior to joining Aviva (formerly Norwich Union), Colin had many years experience within industry and commerce in various senior financial roles. He was involved with the set up of Norwich Union Risk Services, which included setting up new financial systems that were integrated into the main NU Group financial systems.

He is responsible for managing Aviva Risk Management Solutions's financial affairs and liaises directly with Head Office Finance. Colin also has contact with key customers, brokers and partners on a variety of financial arrangements.

Ted Kenrick - Technical and Risk Management Solutions Manager

Ted KenrickTed started his career with Norwich Union in 1973 working in Dublin's Commercial Underwriting division. In 1978 he moved into the field of Risk Management and the following 30+ years have been spent in numerous roles at various locations throughout the UK. He has been involved in a wide variety of complex risks and his work has included assignments in Europe.

Ted has also represented Aviva on industry forums within the ABI and LPC. Ted has responsibility for our standards of technical competence and our processes and procedures, as well as operational responsibility for our Sprinkler and Business Interruption teams. The role includes responsibility for our ISO Accreditation and the IT systems that support our businesses. In addition he leads our Risk Centre of Excellence which provides technical support to our Risk Advisers and also produces our extensive range of Hardfacts.

Development of our Preferred Supplier scheme also comes within his remit as this is a valuable element in our overall proposition in supporting customers to manage risks effectively.

Rachael Haynes - Sales Manager

Rachael HaynesFollowing Administration Management roles with a major provider of management training courses, Rachael moved to a private healthcare group providing not only health and safety but also occupational health services to industry.

Joining Aviva via Ajax Health and Safety Services in 1990, Rachael was instrumental in establishing the operational infrastructure of this new venture and was responsible for recruiting the support team.

Rachael is currently responsible for the Sales and Support teams within Aviva Risk Management Solutions. The sales team advises clients and brokers on the range of training courses and consultancy services provided by Aviva Risk Management Solutions. The support team work with our consultants to ensure we provide a first class service to our customers. In addition, Rachael and her team work closely with colleagues in Norwich to ensure that Aviva Risk Management Solutions are marketed effectively.

Kevin Chicken - Training and Consultancy Manager

Kevin ChickenKevin has had a career in health and safety spanning more than twenty-five years, initially undertaking Statutory Engineering Insurance Inspections and Employers Liability Surveys on behalf of an Aviva (then Norwich Union) subsidiary. Prior to this Kevin's early career was spent in the Merchant Navy which he left in 1984 having reached the position of Chief Engineer.

Kevin holds a Masters degree in Manufacturing Management and Technology and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. Kevin has extensive knowledge and expertise having worked on a wide variety of training and specialist consultancy projects over the years. In his current role he leads a team of four principal consultants and seven consultants who deliver a full range of health, safety and environmental training and consultancy products throughout the United Kingdom.

Simon Bramall - Operations and Trading Manager

Simon BramallSimon has spent over 30 years in the insurance industry, starting back in 1980 in the Manchester market. His experience is in the field of commercial underwriting & risk management, very much with a property bias. He moved into the area of risk management in 1984 qualifying as a property surveyor. He moved to the Midlands in 1994 to manage the Midlands Survey Team.

After managing operational survey teams in the East & West Midlands for 12 years Simon took up the position of Operations & Trading Manager. In his current role he is responsible for 8 Regional Teams, with approximately 112 staff, comprising of Property & Liability Risk Advisers who are managed by 8 Regional Risk Solutions Managers. Simon also manages the Risk Solutions Support Team. This 7 strong team supports our regional operations and trading teams, helping them to provide excellent service to our customers and brokers.

Steve Palmer - Operations and Trading Manager - Motor

Steve PalmerSteve's career in the motor industry spans over 33 years and started as an apprentice Motor Vehicle Technician. He progressed through the ranks becoming a Workshop Controller and then a Service Manager. His final role before joining Aviva Risk Management Solutions, was Fleet Manager of the Co-operative Wholesale Society - North Eastern Region, a position Steve held for 14 years. Steve had responsibility for a fleet of 400 vehicles in this role.

Steve joined Aviva Risk Management Solutions as Fleet Risk Adviser for the North East of England and Scotland in 2001. This role involved advising clients and underwriters on motor fleet risk management and client risk evaluation methods. Steve was appointed Operations and Trading Manager - Motor in 2007 and manages a team of seven fleet specialists who are based around the country.
