Electrical fault leads to construction HQ blaze

An electrical fault caused a blaze at a construction firm's headquarters, it has been reported.

The fire at Grange Farm, off the A505 at Flint Cross, damaged the wooden barns which housed Seearo Construction, the Cambridge Evening News said.

It took 60 firefighters to battle the blaze while it was at its height, which covered a 2,500 square metre area.

According to Mark Onslow, brother of the owner of the construction firm, the barns were being renovated and had been fire-protected. However, the fire started in one which had not yet been upgraded.

Regular electrical testing and the inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment is an important practice for businesses.

Further information about electrical testing can be found on Aviva Risk Management Solutions' website, here.

Guidance includes conducting periodic tests to assess the effectiveness of the earthing system, insulation resistance, the operation of devices for isolation and switching, as well as earth fault loop impedance.ADNFCR-2134-ID-19238824-ADNFCR
