A man has been jailed for stealing and selling on high-end cars across the south-east of England.Imran Khan, 27, of Grays, Essex, was imprisoned for 30 months following a successful investigation carried out by the Metropolitan Police Service's Special Vehicle Unit.
Having previously admitted to two counts of handling stolen goods in regards to the 18 autos in question at Southwark Crown Court, Mr Khan has been sentenced to serve concurrent sentences of 30 months and two years.
Most of the cars in question were high-cost models, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Range Rover.
Prior to the sentencing, Mr Khan admitted that the combined value of the cars before they were stolen amounted to more than £337,000.
"This is a good result for the victims of car key burglaries," said DC Bill McDowell, an officer who worked on the case. "A ruthless man, who made his living on the back of victims' loss and intrusion, has been removed."
In the 12 months preceding January 10th 2010, there were 98,346 thefts of and from vehicles in London.
