Communities urged to unite over anti-social behaviour

Business property owners are to be given guidance by the government on how to take a stand against anti-social behaviour.

A series of events will take place this month aimed at advising residents and businesses how to join together with their neighbours, the police and council leaders to tackle the problem.

These are set to be held across England, including talks in Newcastle on March 15th 2010, Salford on March 19th and Slough four days later.

Communities secretary John Denham has pledged to help neighbourhoods deal with anti-social behaviour and other local issues by giving them access to training and hands-on support.

"There are still some communities where such behaviour causes real misery," he said.

Mr Denham went on to state that members of the public and business owners have "every right to feel confident that the police and councils will give a high priority to tackling the problem".

And he urged communities to work together over the issue, stating that they are at their strongest when they are united.
