North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has begun an investigation into the cause of a blaze at a Deeside paper recycling facility The Service sent nine appliances to deal with the fire at the Parry and Evans factory at Deeside Industrial Estate on March 16th 2010.
Officers discovered around 100 bales of paper on fire at the site, although the blaze was outside the factory.
Staff were evacuated while the service dealt with the fire and undertook work to protect the factory and surrounding buildings.
The factory survived the blaze and much of the equipment escaped without damage, although 400 tonnes of paper were destroyed.
It has not yet been established how the fire started, but North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it plans to investigate the circumstances that led to the blaze.
Steve Evans, the recycling company's managing director, admitted the fire could have had a devastating impact on the business had the emergency services been unable to bring it under control so quickly.
However, he told the Flintshire Chronicle he would not know how much the fire would cost the company until loss adjustors had inspected the site.
