What the course covers

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the health and safety role and responsibilities of senior executives
  • Recognise the importance of integrating health and safety objectives with other business objectives in order to minimise the overall risk
  • Take account of health and safety aspects during strategic planning, decision making and effective supply chain management
  • Know the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively
  • State the principles of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS), continual improvement and annual reporting

  • Those with strategic responsibility for determining and implementing effective health and safety management within an organisation.

What delegates will learn

The course will include:

  • Module 1 - Aims and Objectives
  • Module 2 - Senior Executives' Health and Safety Responsibilities.
    Outlining the moral and legal case for effective health and safety management and the role of directors
  • Module 3 - Corporate Governance and Health and Safety.
    Explaining the business case for effective management of health and safety risk including the "hidden" costs of failure and the requirements for annual reporting
  • Module 4 - Management Systems.
    Understanding the requirements for effective health and safety management, its principles and its strategic implementation

Successful completion of the programme results in the award of an IOSH Safety for Senior Executives certificate.
