What the course covers
This course will assist delegates to recognise the hazards in their working environment and identify the actions to be taken to control them.

- Operators and Office Staff, ideal for employee induction and employee safety refresher training.
What delegates will learn
The course will include:
- Module 1 - Introducing working safely
This module stresses the importance of health and safety within the workplace and introduces delegates to the importance of their role in contributing to a safe working environment.
- Module 2 - Defining hazard and risk
This module defines hazards, risks and provides everyday examples. The module illustrates how even routine operations can go wrong and looks at the potential consequences. Six hazard categories are identified and delegates are asked to consider the hazards and risks in their day-to-day role. The module also introduces the concept of risk assessment and demonstrates how to undertake informal risk assessments everyday.
- Module 3 - Identifying common hazards
This module will focus on the common hazards, including; entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise and the working environment, slips, trips and falls, and manual handling. Examples are given for each hazard.
- Module 4 - Improving safety performance
This session explains health and safety systems and processes. This includes inspections, safe systems and permits, protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures, reporting and health checks - all are focused on from the delegate's point of view.
- Module 5 - Protecting our environment
This module looks at waste management and pollution, explaining to delegates ways in which they can contribute to reducing their organisation's impact on the environment.
Certification
For delegates who attend the course and successfully complete the written and practical assessments, they will be awarded an IOSH Working Safely Certificate.
