When and how will you pay the bonuses?

The special bonuses for 2008, 2009 and 2010 have now been added to your policy.

Conventional

Your 2008 and 2009 special bonuses were added at the end of 2008 and 2009 respectively, as part of the regular bonus for that year. Your 2010 special bonus will be added along with your regular bonus at the end of 2010.

If you leave the eligible with-profits fund after a qualification date but before the bonus is paid at the end of that year, the special bonus for that year will be included in your payment as part of any final bonus added.

The table below shows when the special bonus for each qualification date will be added to policies and pension schemes:

Important to know

  • The special bonuses are added to eligible policies and will increase the policy value - they’re not paid in cash.
  • The size of the bonus eligible policyholders receive depends on the value of their with–profits investment in the funds on the qualifying dates. This could be higher or lower than the value of their investment today.
  • New investments including increases to regular premiums, additional single premiums or switches made into the relevant funds on or after 1 January 2008 do not qualify for a special bonus.
