Aviva employees get involved

On 12 & 13 September, a team from Aviva's finance department cycled in a charity tandem bike ride to raise money for Railway Children. The team (including Kevin Sale, Toni Miller, Alan Collett, Andrew Hardwick, Lisa Godwin, Tim Turner, Marjory Miller, Nick Halls, Hayley Welsted and Robin Stevens) formed five tandem teams riding over 62 miles along the North Norfolk coastline. September is a busy month with fund-raising activities as Jon Whitaker, Richard Broome, Craig Hunter, Jack Jackson and Lee Graham will also be raising money for Railway Children by spending a September weekend walking 24 Peaks in the Lake District. They'll be climbing 24 of the toughest peaks in the Lakes, and ascending 13,000ft, 3,962 m - that's equivalent to half the height of Everest!
Following this, on 6 October, Steve Frost will be joining the invitation-only annual Railway Children Train to Kili charity challenge to represent Aviva. His challenge to climb Kilimanjaro - a daunting one for someone who's afraid of heights. Steve's been writing a blog since he 'volunteered' to represent Aviva, its well worth a read. You'll be able to follow his progress before, during and after the climb and for anyone who wants to sponsor him, you can here.
A team from RAC Marketing will be following in his tracks on 26 January 2011, as the K4K "Kili 4 Kids" team start their ascent. The team, which also includes partners and suppliers, are all fired up for the challenge and have set themselves an impressive target of raising £20,000 for Railway Children. They've already begun the hard work, not just getting physically and mentally fit, but raising the funds. They're holding a Halloween Ball on Saturday 30 October at Sprowston Manor, Norwich.
