In-car technology
01 Apr 2019
As cars become more like high-end computers, we asked the British public what they thought about the in-car technology that car manufacturers say can make driving safer, more convenient, and more fun.
Here’s what we found:
- Nearly half of all British adults who drive (49%) believe that vehicle technology can make a positive difference
- A third (32%) use in-car tech to help them park
- 8% of drivers admit to ‘briefly’ using their phone when driving, e.g. to change songs or update the satnav
- Although drivers mostly report liking in-car tech, when it comes to driverless cars, the majority (57%) are worried about the technology being in control rather than the driver
