COVID-19 support and advice: Group Protection

Everything you need to know at this time

As the pandemic continues to impact all our lives, we know how tough it is. That's why we're doing all we can to support you when you need us, while keeping our people safe.

To help with any concerns you may have about your Group Protection policies with us, we’ve put together the following information.

Latest COVID-19 update: claims

Group Income Protection

Employees with the COVID-19 infection who are unable to work due to incapacity past the deferred period on their policy are covered, subject to the terms and conditions of their policy.

Group Critical Illness

Although COVID-19 isn’t a covered condition on critical illness policies, if complications as a result of the virus lead to other insured criteria being met, the claim would be paid subject to the terms and conditions of the specific policy.

Group Life

Death claims arising from the COVID-19 infection would be paid, subject to the usual policy terms and conditions. Where a claim is made under an Aviva Group Life policy as a result of COVID-19, the event limit detailed in the policy conditions will apply.

We will continue to monitor the situation and take advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO). For more information about COVID-19 and advice on preventing the infection from spreading, please visit the Public Health England information pages.

How to get in touch

We recognise these are challenging times for us all. We want to help support our customers and be flexible enough to help them retain their benefits rather than reduce or lose their valuable protection. If you would like to know what options are available or if you have any concerns regarding your cover, please contact your financial adviser, speak to your Aviva Account Manager about your individual circumstances or email.
