Our Cancer Pledge

Extensive cover and support is vital during a person’s cancer treatment.

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world changes. Cancer Research UK has stated that one in two people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, so we understand the importance of providing your clients with the cover and support they need if they’re diagnosed with cancer.

As one of the market leaders in health insurance we're always looking to provide improved levels of cover and support for your clients, that's appropriate and helps them cope with this condition. That's why we continually review our cover to make sure we provide your clients with the best cancer care possible.

An example of this included within our cancer pledge is that even if your clients decide to downgrade their cover with the 'reduced out-patient' option, we won't apply any of the specified limits to any cancer treatment received after cancer has been diagnosed.

Our cancer pledge

We understand the importance of providing extensive cover and support at every stage of cancer treatment and palliative care your clients need, as recommended by their specialist. We also want to make sure that things are as comfortable as possible for your clients following their cancer treatment, so we'll provide extensive cover for their aftercare, including consultations with a dietician, as well as money towards prostheses and wigs.

Cancer care – using Aviva’s clinical expertise

Unsure what would happen if your clients needed to make a claim? We’re here to support you, when they need advice.

We have a dedicated oncology department and everyone who makes a cancer claim is looked after by a dedicated case handler, from the point of diagnosis right through to the completion of their treatment. This way, we can reduce the burden of administration by getting to know the case details inside out. Your client can then concentrate on what’s most important: the right treatment and hopefully the road to recovery.

Our nurses give regular awareness sessions to the claims teams on such things as radiotherapy treatment, chemotherapy and the various types of cancer. In addition, our phone-based advisers – as well as our clinical staff – can offer knowledgeable support to you and your clients, as soon as they call. Rest assured, we’ll provide the best possible support and work one-to-one with your client from the outset.
