A mother and daughter team were overall winners in an insurancecharity Christmas card design competition supported by NorwichUnion.
Jackie and Felicity Youngson from Nottingham were first to seetheir designs roll off the press at Breckland Print Solutions.
Seven-year-old Courtney Blundell, of Aveley in Essex, therunner-up and youngest winner, was also there to see her design ofthe Three Kings printed.
This was the first year of this competition open to adults andchildren to design a Christmas card with all profits from the saleof the cards going to the Insurance Benevolent Fund. This funddonates money to people who have worked in the insurance industryand have fallen on hard times. Representing the industry at theprinting press were Ben Welsh from Norwich Union, Mark Barlow, ofthe Insurance Charities and Jamie Marchant, of Groupama Insurance.It is hoped that the competition will become an annual event.
Ben Welsh, director of marketing and communications for NorwichUnion, who arranged for the printing of the cards and who isproviding the first 40,000 cards free of charge, commented:“As the UK’s leading insurance company, we feelit’s extremely important to support charities like theInsurance Benevolent Fund that help our industry. We are delightedthat some of the winners have been able to see all their hard workon the front of Christmas cards.”
This project expects to earn in the region of £15,000 for theInsurance Benevolent fund.
