Aviva launches new motor policy for multi car families

  • Insure a second car or van and get up to a third off1

Motorists who want to cover more than one car in their family, all on the same policy, and save money can do so with Aviva’s new MultiCar insurance.

The policy is available to husbands and wives, common-law partners and any relatives who live under the same roof and will cover up to five cars or vans in a household.

Students with cars, who live away from their permanent home address during term-time, will qualify too and Aviva MultiCar will also cover a small business or partnership where all vehicles are registered at the same business address.

The policy will feature:

  • Discounts for each additional car or van added
  • One single renewal date and one set of policy documentation
  • Each driver’s no claims discount (NCD) is kept separate so if one driver has an accident, this only affects their own NCD, not the other driver’s
  • The ability to add or remove a vehicle mid-term
  • Ability to receive a guaranteed quote upfront for all additional vehicles, even if they are to be added to the policy later when they reach renewal
  • Tailored cover, excess and add-ons for each vehicle

The policy will also have all the standard features of Aviva’s motor policy; uninsured driver promise – if you are hit by an uninsured driver and the accident is not your fault you will not lose your NCD, child seat cover, medical expenses and personal belongings cover. For those wanting additional cover, customers can opt to add on features like breakdown cover, courtesy car and driving abroad, which can be adapted to each different vehicle.

Steve Treloar, retail director at Aviva, said: “With nearly half of households in the UK owning two cars or more2, our MultiCar insurance was developed to meet the needs of multi-vehicle homes and offers a simple solution for busy families with lots of different interests.

“As well as offering a great discount on their insurance, our new proposition offers one renewal date and one set of documentation, giving multi-vehicle homes the convenience and peace of mind that all their cars are covered in one place with a single premium.

“But we also make sure that each driver keeps their own no claims discount, which means it’s ideal for households with drivers of different ages and experience. As motorists can add up to five vehicles, including vans, on the one policy, it’s also great for small businesses and tradesmen who may use their van during the week but their car at weekends with their family.”

Customers can add other vehicles  at any time during the lifetime of the policy and  can receive a guaranteed quote for all their additional vehicles up front, even if they wish to add them later when they come up for renewal.   On top of receiving up to a third off1 for adding a second vehicle, further discounts are given as and when other cars or vans are added.
