Lex, the UK’s number one contract hire and leasingcompany, has signed a six-year contract with RAC for roadsideassistance and glass replacement across its fleet of 175,000vehicles.
The contract, worth £60 million, consolidates the existing longterm partnership between the two companies. Last year, RAC’sdedicated fleet centre in Stretford, Manchester, handled around100,000 calls from Lex customers for assistance and attendedaround 60,000 breakdowns. RAC Auto Windscreens in Chesterfieldtook over 13,000 calls from Lex customers and replaced around10,000 windscreens and windows via a national network of 140fitting centres.
The RAC support team makes regular visits to Lex sites inStockport, Stirling and Marlow to assist Lex colleagues andsupport their customers.
Ian Thomson, general manager – Driver Services, of Lex,said: "The award of this contract is excellent news for bothparties. It clearly demonstrates the faith we have in RAC and RACAuto Windscreens to continue to provide the highest levels ofservice to Lex customers and the length of the arrangement willallow both organisations to develop long term strategies toimprove the service levels still further.
