HPI has announced that its National Mileage Register (NMR) nowtops the 100 million mark – making it the best place fordealers and used car buyers to check that a vehicle hasn’tbeen "clocked".
The NMR check can now cross-reference the vehicle’s currentmileage reading against a huge database of over 100 millionmileages. It means that an NMR check is much more likely to be ableto spot used cars with "dodgy" mileages than other vehiclechecks.
The check highlights any inconsistencies and discrepancies witheasy to understand messages transmitted to the customer online. AnNMR investigation can help form the basis of a sound legal defenceagainst the 1968 Trade Description Act. The investigation involvescontacting previous keepers of the vehicle and confirming mileagedetails – ensuring that dealers and customers are buying thegenuine article.
The NMR hit the 100 million+ records mark after HPI recently added7 million warranty mileages from Ford and 4.5 million mileages fromToyota.
“We are now in the proud position of being able to offer HPIcustomers one of the most comprehensive mileage registers in theUK,” said Daniel Burgess, director of automotive at HPI.“This means we can offer dealers and their customers amileage check that is second to none – confirming HPI’sposition as the leading vehicle checking company in theUK.”
