An Introduction to Risk Management Basics

The world of health and safety is continually changing and employers face a mountain of regulations, guidance and best practice examples when managing workplace risk.

To help small firms and employers and especially those who are just getting started on managing health and safety, Aviva has worked with risk management subsidiary Aviva Risk Management Solutions  to offer help to the SME.

This website provides a continuous reference point for information, help, and support, in straightforward language. The main subject areas that you need to know about have been covered in this section.

If you’re new to risk management or unsure of what you need to do why not work through these pages to see what is required and how the guidance and pro formas can help you meet your responsibilities.

After you’ve done that why not think about trying our Self-Assessment Tool? A procedure to help you understand and measure how well you are doing at managing the risks in the workplace and to benchmark your progress on managing risk.

Self-Assessment Tool (55KB)

It will give you an idea of how well you are managing risk at present. Use it again in 6 or 12 months’ time to get a measure of how well you are improving.
