What is diagnostics insurance?

Our Speedy Diagnostics cover helps you get to the bottom of your symptoms, quickly.

So if you’re worried something’s wrong with your health, or waiting lists are too long, we could help you towards getting back to your best. Because it only covers you for diagnostic tests, it’s a more cost-effective way to figure out your symptoms, without paying for a full health insurance policy.

What are the benefits of our diagnostics insurance?

From a more cost-effective way to look after your health to faster appointments and consultations, there’s a lot to like about our diagnostics cover.

Keep costs down

Diagnostics insurance tends to cost less than full health cover. Over half of our customers pay less than £20 a month – that’s less than 66p a day. Footnote [1]

Quick access to specialists

We cover all fees for consultations and diagnostic tests. That's things like CT, MRI and PET scans, X-rays, ECGs and blood tests.

Not just standard cover

You’ll get a bundle of added benefits at no extra cost, including the Aviva Digital GP app and discounts at thousands of gyms and fitness clubs*.

* Non-contractual benefit which can be changed or withdrawn at any time.

What our diagnostics insurance covers

Our diagnostics insurance can help you get an initial diagnosis as quickly as possible. For example, if you're suffering from hip pain, diagnostics covers the cost of a consultation with a specialist. This could help you get to the bottom of your symptoms and get a diagnosis as soon as possible. It doesn’t cover you for any treatment that follows your diagnosis – for example, physiotherapy or a hip replacement operation. If you’re considering diagnostics insurance, it’s important you understand the difference between this and standard health insurance.

What's covered

Our core cover is anything but standard. It includes extensive benefits such as:

  • Specialist fees
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Hospital charges
  • Access to wellbeing benefits and discounts

What's not covered

  • The cost of any treatment after your diagnosis
  • Routine health checks or screenings
  • Further consultations and tests after a diagnosis
  • Pre-existing health conditions
