Underwriting this policy
Time is important, and no one wants to spend it filling out forms. Our underwriting process is as efficient as possible in that regard. We start by offering a free cover limit usually up to £1.25m. Under this level, there's no need for individual medical underwriting and, in most cases, we'll take a 'once only' approach. This means prospective members will only normally be underwritten once for benefits above the Free Cover Limit. In the majority of cases, future increases in benefit won't be subject to further underwriting.
Where we require medical underwriting, we'll try to minimise the disruption. Here are some aspects of our underwriting process that we think are important, and that we hope you'll choose to benefit from:
- Efficiency. We use specialist staff - equipped with medical knowledge - to capture essential information in telephone interviews. By using the Teleinterview technique, employees don't usually have to complete any complicated forms, which helps puts them at ease. All calls are carried out in confidence, and this can significantly reduce cases of non-disclosure.
- Simplicity. If you prefer your employees not to have a Teleinterview, then we can use one medical declaration to capture information about their work, health, lifestyle and medical history. This helps us give quick decisions to your members of staff.
- Accountability. We provide a prompt, clear and accountable underwriting service, which is designed so that it creates minimum disruption for your business.
- Practicality. We'll give your employees cover from day one as we set up your Group Life policy. We provide up to 90 days temporary cover (to a maximum of £1million for benefits above the free cover level or previously accepted benefit)), during the underwriting process, excluding pre-existing conditions.
