Pet insurance for dogs and cats

No two cats or dogs are the same, so it's important to find cover that works for you – and them. And, as nobody can predict when something might go wrong, it's handy to have access to help 24/7.

Direct Line is now part of the Aviva group and so we are now able to introduce you to Direct Line’s products. And with Direct Line pet insurance, you can choose the type of cover to suit your needs, select from a wide range of optional add-ons (including overseas travel cover), and get online access to a vet at any time.

Why do you need pet insurance?

Pet insurance is here to help both you and your pet when the unexpected happens.

Your pet is part of the family, so if they get sick or hurt, it can be incredibly stressful. Not only that, it can get expensive. Whether it's vet fees, medication, dental treatment, or even the cost of putting a pet to sleep, everything you do for them can start to add up.

That's where pet insurance comes in. If your pet gets sick or hurt, it's here to provide care for your companion and offer some financial support for you.

A choice of cover levels to suit your pet

Direct Line has two cover levels you can choose from, alongside a range of optional add-ons.

All Direct Line policies are subject to terms and conditions – please read them carefully online or in the app to understand what you're covered for.

How does my pet’s age affect pet insurance?

Direct Line can cover cats or dogs from eight weeks old up to 10 years of age.

Pet insurance premiums go up as your pet gets older because the chances of your pet getting ill increase. Age is one of a few factors that can impact your premium, with others including your pet's breed, any claims you make, increasing vet fees, and more.
