What is Driveaway?

Seven day free car insurance ("Driveaway") is an insurance cover that enables you to take advantage of seven days' free comprehensive car insurance cover when you buy a car from a participating dealer.

What is included in Driveaway cover?
  1. Seven days' free comprehensive cover;
  2. Unlimited legal liability cover for death or injury to any person;
  3. Up to £20 million legal liability cover for damage to other person's property.

Are there any restrictions as to who can have Driveaway cover?

Yes. Driveaway is subject to the standard Aviva car insurance terms and conditions which you can read on the Aviva website. If you and/or your car do not qualify for cover according to our usual car insurance underwriting criteria, your request for Driveaway cover will be declined. In addition, Driveaway cover is not available to drivers under the age of 21 and for cars that are 10 years old or more. Our internet service is available for Driveaway requests for cars only (not motorcycles, vans, or kit cars) and only one Driveaway insurance policy is permitted per customer per vehicle registration number.

What are the benefits of Driveaway?

Driveaway enables you to receive seven days’ free comprehensive car insurance for your new car. A cover note is emailed to your dealer – usually within an hour of your call – enabling them to tax the car, if required, so that you can ‘Driveaway’ your new vehicle.

Is Driveaway available in all parts of the UK?

Driveaway cover is available in all parts of the UK except Northern Ireland.

What should I do if I get an error message and can't submit my information to Aviva?

Driveaway has a dedicated phone number which will route you through to an Aviva advisor. Please call us on 0800 404 6971 and we will take your details over the telephone.

Do I have to pay to call this number?

Calls from most land lines to this number are free. Certain network providers may charge you in accordance with their policy. Please check your network providers’ terms and conditions.

What do I do if I have not received the Driveaway cover note or have a general query?

Contact the Aviva call centre on 0800 015 1392 and they will be able to re–send the email.

What do I do if I want to take out a policy for when my seven days cover has expired?

Should you wish to take out the insurance for after the seven day free period, please contact the Aviva call centre on 0800 404 9966 and quote your online reference number.

Am I eligible for the 10 weeks' worth of free car insurance?

10 weeks' worth of free car insurance is available to new customers who buy a 12 month car insurance policy on the phone and have at least four years' no claim discount on their existing car insurance policy. Proof of no claim discount is required. Offer excludes any optional extras. Minimum premium applies. Offer may be withdrawn at any time.
