Fitness routines 'cannot be perfect'Article date: 27 January 2012

People still sticking with their new year's resolutions to lose weight have been told not to be too hard on themselves when the plan temporarily falters.

Anne Finnemore, founder of Gettingyouthere.co.uk, said that the idea of maintaining a regime that involves eating a strict number of calories every day and going to the gym a certain amount of times every week was not conducive to modern lifestyles.

"What you really want is to be travelling in the right direction most of the time," she said.

Ms Finnemore explained that it was a good idea to keep an 80:20 ratio in mind, where 80 per cent of the time, people are eating healthily and exercising.

"It might not be as fast as you want, but it takes you in the right direction," she stated.

This comes after Alan Bodikian, brand representative for FULLfast, said that many people find salubrious regimes hard to stick to for a prolonged period.ADNFCR-438-ID-801276946-ADNFCR
